Follow-up is Critical

followupgirlFollow-up, as any business owner will tell you, is absolutely critical and extremely powerful when done correctly. Listening to a podcast recently on internet marketing I realized just how critical and often overlooked area of sales this usually is - especially when it comes to hot leads given to you by your website.

BIG TIP: With the advent of technology it is now quite normal to have your email forwarded to your mobile. Nowadays instead of calling the day after you get the email or even within an hour - why not endeavor to call them minutes after they have left the site, or better yet CALL THE HOT LEAD WHILE THEY ARE STILL ON YOUR WEBSITE. That is simply unheard of and is guaranteed to get people talking.

Yes, it will take effort, but give it a go. I dare you!

The second and more common way of quick follow-up via a website contact is to have an automated email sent to the leads inbox. This is done very regularly nowadays however can still be effective if the email is exciting, different and offers value in the way of product/service information, links to similar services or anything really that relates to what they have contacted you about that is of use. Of course follow-up via phone is still generally required and recommended however if you are slow to do this (longer than 5 hours) than perhaps this is a good way of making it feel less.

FINISHING POINT: The point I want you to take away from this entry is that people online need things now now now, in fact this entry is probably getting a little boring for you as you read this, and as such we need to be able to provide that. If a prospect goes to your website wanting to contact you in a NOW NOW fashion, how will you react? Will they get what they want to feel impressed?

It is interesting that you highlight societies need for things immediately when online. I don't think many people really take this into consideration with internet businesses. I mean, thinking about myself I get irritated when the internet slows down. Follow ups add a human element to the virtual world that the internet is, and kind of drives the emotional aspect of this relatively cold world. As nice as follow up emails can be, nothing can beat a phone call or even a post card or something.
