Do you have the need for speed?

February 23, 2010 2 Comments Growing Your Business

fast_forwardDo you ever get frustrated waiting for websites to load? Most Australian businesses and web designers host their website overseas, which is fine if your visitors don’t mind waiting. This is fine in most cases, personally I don’t mind waiting up to 15 secs for a site to load if I really want to view it, however for a lot of Internet users 15 seconds is a lifetime!

For those potential clients you are missing out on speed is critical for a website experience to be enjoyable and not distracting. At iSonic we have seen this issue and have moved all of our servers and Joomla-based websites to as close as we can to the visitors most Brisbane businesses are targeting - Brisbane!

If you are a Joomla user, you would understand the need to have a very quick server that is close by as every page is created dynamically - that is the server builds the website whenever a new user visits.

Have a surf around the iSonic Corporate Website or and you will quickly notice the huge speed difference it has over other websites you normally visit! You literally cannot get any better than what iSonic is now offering and at no extra cost!

Hi Chris, fair comment. From the end user's point of view you're right - there is no obvious difference if the website is physically located in another country. The difference is purely in the speed. This is why larger international companies such as Google even host their website locally to the country to speed things up (ie. if you access Google from an Australian IP address, you will be loading it from an Australian server).

I don't understand how a business can host their website "overseas"? Even if a business is getting a host that is based overseas, does it really matter if everything is contained on the internet? There should be no boundary, at least from what I know about it.

Irregardless, your main point is vital. The faster the speed, the better it is for a customer!
